What to do in Termoli

Have you arrived in Termoli and want to have a good meal? Do you want to taste local specialties or do you prefer to enjoy a good pizza? Whether you are a carnivore or a vegan, a lover of typical flavors or looking for special restaurants, innovative or traditionalist, there is something for everyone. So, park your car, perhaps at the port, and let’s take a walking tour together to discover the restaurants of Termoli.

Recchi Fish Restaurant: going up from the port, in via Carlo Del Croix, you will immediately find a place where you can eat good fresh fish at absolutely affordable prices. This is Recchi Fish Restaurant, a self-service restaurant very popular with the people of Termoli. Come in, approach the counter and choose from the local specialties. You will not be disappointed by either the quality or the bill.

Da Nicolino: moving to via Roma, right in front of the Castello Svevo, symbol of the city, there is a restaurant that has been famous in Termoli since 1975, especially for the brodetto alla termolese, in dialect ‘U bredette. Originally born as a poor dish, made with small fish that were part of the unsold catch, over time it has become a local specialty that is also known outside the region. Definitely worth trying.

Osteria Dentro le Mura: moving to the ancient village, better known to the people of Termoli as Paese Vecchio, there is L’Osteria dentro le mura where chef Antonio Terzano cooks, together with his wife Lina. Adding prestige and expertise to the Osteria is the collaboration with the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, the participation in the Expo in Milan and that in the Salone del Gusto in Seoul last November where chef Terzano was entrusted with the tasting program. A gastronomic experience for export.

Svevia: quality gastronomy, attention to detail, a relaxed atmosphere, minimal furnishings in a suggestive and refined setting. This is the Svevia restaurant, located in the Giudicato Vecchio alley, a stone’s throw from the Cathedral, in the heart of the Old Town. Fish-based menu for demanding palates, willing to spend a little more.

Federico II: continuing along Via Duomo, you reach the Federico II restaurant. Here too, the specialties are fish-based, served in a simple, quiet and intimate setting. The appetizers are very good and the fish soup is excellent, which also won first place at the 2015 Adriatic Brodetto Festival.

Nonna Maria: not just a restaurant where you can enjoy the Termoli seafood culinary tradition in a characteristic setting, but also a nearby inn where you can stay in the heart of the Adriatic town. This is the Nonna Maria restaurant, in via Oberdan 14.

Il Borgo: going back down Corso Fratelli Brigida, you enter a small alley that leads to Via Borgo 10. There you will find the sign for the Il Borgo restaurant. This restaurant is a real surprise! Pino will welcome you, a pleasant and kind person who will immediately make you feel at home: appetizers, first and second courses of fresh fish that are available at the right price.

L’Opera: a few steps away, we are still in Via Adriatica, there is another family-run restaurant. This welcoming, well-kept and at the same time informal restaurant offers customers a relaxed atmosphere and a series of dishes – traditional and revisited – based on fish. The restaurant is called L’Opera.
